Title: A Tyrol Tidbit

Photographer: Marcus Danz

Location: Alpe di Siusi, Italy

Year taken: 2020

Image description: While increasingly dense clouds pass by the peaks of the mighty Sassolungo group, the pasture catches the warm light of the soon-to-set sun one more time.

Background story: During my 3-day visit of Alpe di Siusi in autumn 2020, I had quite a struggle with the weather conditions. During the first day, the clouds were so dense that only small parts of the mountains were occasionally visible. The next day offered mainly sunshine and bright blue skies - photographically rather unappealing conditions.

On day 3, the weather changed again and became so bad that I didn't get a further opportunity for a compelling picture.

When I took the picture "A Tyrol Tidbit", however, I was really lucky. After a more or less cloudless day, the cloud cover became denser in the late afternoon, but as I had hoped, the light of the setting sun hit the alpine pasture and the towering mountains behind it one last time.
