Background story: Although castles and palaces are among my favourite subjects of photography, and I am fortunate enough to live very close to one of the most beautiful moated castles in Germany, I failed many times in taking a decent image of Vischering Castle.

In 2020, I made a virtue out of the necessity of corona-related travel restrictions and devoted myself to photograph my home castle for several weeks. After exploring and studying many compositions, I finally found a shooting position I was happy with. It took several further attempts until a wonderful summer evening offered the desired light and weather conditions.
